Jewface
Jewface is a bold, satirical short film that interrogates Jewish identity, cultural stereotype, and the pressure to perform belonging. Created by filmmaker, Melissa Center, drawing from her personal experience, the project blends sharp humour with emotional honesty to examine what it means to feel both hyper-visible and invisible at the same time. It’s a story about perception, power, and the complicated space between representation and reality.

(01) THE HERO IMAGE
A bold, graphic concept that uses metaphor instead of portraiture. The faceless figure draped over the couch — hammer in hand — feels both playful and charged. The saturated colour, clean geometry, and stillness create an editorial, highly stylised mood. By hiding her face, the image speaks to her sense of invisibility and frustration, capturing a character who feels overlooked even in her own story.
